Debra Montalvo Russell of Signal Hill Petroleum Honored by Los Angeles Business

May 23, 2014 –Long Beach, CA— Signal Hill Petroleum’s Director of Community Relations, Debra Montalvo Russell, was recently honored at the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 22nd annual Women Making a Difference Symposium and Awards, which recognizes the contributions of L.A.’s most successful female business leaders. Russell was recognized for leading Signal Hill Petroleum’s philanthropic efforts and community outreach initiatives benefiting schools, hospitals, chambers of commerce, and non-profit organizations throughout Signal Hill and Long Beach.
“Debra’s passion for local businesses, residents, and charity organizations has had a profound impact on the community and inspired change from within our organization,” said David Slater, Executive Vice President and Chief Operation Officer of Signal Hill Petroleum.
In her ten years with the company, Russell has developed lasting new partnerships between Signal Hill Petroleum and the community, including the Long Beach Movies in the Park program, The Signal Hill Police Department National Night Out program, The Signal Hill Holiday Outreach program, The Guidance Center of Long Beach, The Long Beach Library Foundation and Park Enhancements. In addition, Russell coordinated and carried out the company’s recent gift of $250,000 to California State University of Long Beach for the development of an environmental geochemistry laboratory.
Russell currently serves on the boards for the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, The Ukleja Center for Ethical Leadership at California State University Long Beach, and Partnerships in Excellence through the Memorial Medical Center Foundation.
