Signal Hill Petroleum (SHP) recently hosted students from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) for an educational forum that covered the history of SHP, what defines ethical leadership and workplace ethical dilemmas SHP employees have faced. The forum was organized by the Ukleja Center at CSULB, a program dedicated to the development of ethical leadership skills for CSULB students.
Debra Russell, director of Business Development and Community Relations for SHP, has been a governing council member for the Ukleja Center for the past five years. Her core involvement is focused on community outreach, which is one of the three pillars that the Ukleja center stands for, according to SHP, which has had the opportunity to host students for this discussion for the last five years.
The main topic is always the same– ethical leadership and daily decision making– but this year Russell not only showcased how important ethics are but also how important the industry is to the surrounding community, the nation and particularly individuals.
