1. Aquarium of the Pacific
We’re fortunate to have one of the country’s great aquariums nearby, and to have it as a partner. Activities of the Aquarium of the Pacific extend far beyond exhibits and include the following resources:
1. The Pacific Teacher Resources site states, ” Here you will find everything you might need to help you bring the ocean and hands-on science into your classroom.”
2. The Marine Conservation Research Institute connects the scientific community with the public by providing information about ocean-related issues and research.
3. News and Events includes environmental lectures and family-oriented activities

2. California State University, Long Beach
Students from the Environmental Science and Policy Department at California State University of Long Beach spent several semesters finding out as much as they could about the Los Cerritos Wetlands Complex.

3. Earth Island Institute
Earth Island Institute is a non-profit, public interest, membership organization that supports people who are creating solutions to protect our shared planet. For 25 years, Earth Island Institute has been a hub for grassroots campaigns dedicated to Earth Island Institute has been a hub for grassroots campaigns dedicated to conserving, preserving, and restoring the ecosystems on which our civilization depends.
Their Project Support program acts as an incubator for start-up environmental projects, giving crucial assistance to groups and individuals with new ideas for promoting ecological sustainability. The Institute helps to fund the Los Coyotes Wetlands. Stewardship program.

4. El Dorado Audubon
El Dorado Audubon is a chapter of the National Audubon Society which meets in El Dorado Park in Long Beach. The chapter conducts bird walks in the area that bring leaders to teach people
about the importance of wetlands. Topics include history, plants, animals, and ecology; and will stress the importance of the connectivity between the San Gabriel River, Los Cerritos Wetlands, Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge and Bolsa Chica Wetlands.

You may wish to download and print the bird list (3-page PDF file) and bring it to the bird walk for use in recording bird counts. 5. Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust
The Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust of Long Beach and Seal Beach is committed to:
1. Facilitating the purchase of acreage for sale in Los Cerritos Wetlands.
2. Reconnecting and restoring the estuary remnants.
3. Providing a beautiful setting for generations of families to discover the wonders of this one-of-a-kind environment.
4. Permanently protecting this precious resource before it is gone forever.
NOTE: The Land Trust was recently awarded a grant of $25,000 from the Community Wetland Restoration Grants Program 2011 to continue to fund the Los Cerritos Wetllands Stewardship Program through 2012.

6. Los Cerritos Wetlands Stewards
The Los Cerritos Wetlands Stewards, Inc is an independent group whose mission is the long-term protection and enhancement of the Los Cerritos Wetlands. With the aid of grants the Stewards have created a Stewardship Program, a community oriented program focused on wetlands education, community building, and service-learning through stewardship and conservation activities.

7. Save Our Beach
Save Our Beach recruits volunteers and conducts cleanups of beaches, rivers and wetlands in Long Beach and Seal Beach. You can learn more about and volunteer to participate in the cleanups at their website.

8. Signal Hill Petroleum
Along with many other concerned partners Signal Hill Petroleum is working collaboratively to successfully implement the Los Cerritos Wetlands Stewardship Program and help return 66 acres of habitat to the wild. The Los Cerritos Wetlands Stewardship Program enlists volunteers to assist in the first restoration project for these long neglected wetlands. A variety of activities are conducted by the volunteers:
1. Collection of southern tarplant seeds
2. Removal of non-native plants
3. Removal of brush and debris
As of February 2010 more than 200 volunteers in 400 volunteer hours had collected more than a quarter ton of trash. Signal Hill Petroleum provides the necessary resources and facilities for these clean-up events. “We will continue to do our part and invite you to participate in one of these upcoming public restoration events.”

9. Southern California Wetlands Recovery Project (SCWRP)
SCWRP is a broad-based partnership, chaired by the California Resources Agency and supported by the State Coastal Conservancy, that has public agencies, non-profits, scientists, and local communities working cooperatively to acquire and restore rivers, streams, and wetlands in coastal southern California. SCWRP awarded $25,000 to the Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust Award in 2011.
The project will expand the community-based restoration efforts at Los Cerritos Wetlands to the newly purchased Hellman Ranch Lowlands, while restoring the plant community in 6 acres of alkali meadow in the Zedler Marsh restoration area. This work will be incorporated into a public program focused on wetlands education, community outreach, stewardship and conservation for the continued and long-term preservation and enhancement of the Los Cerritos Wetlands. The project will install coastal wetlands vegetation, control non-native plant species, remove thousands of pounds of debris, conserve rare plant populations, propagate wetlands plant species, and introduce non-traditional environmental constituents to these urban wetlands.

10. Tidal Influence
Tidal Influence is a Long Beach-based environmental advising group formed by Eric Zahn and Taylor Parker to study and document southern California’s coastal habitats. The chief mission of Tidal Influence is to assist agencies, municipalities, and local interest groups with attaining their coastal habitat conservation goals. Tidal Influence’s principal focus is on coastal salt marshes.
