SHP’s VP and COO, Dave Slater, speaking at the 10th Annual Cottonwood Awards Luncheon.

Last Thursday, we attended the 10th Annual Cottonwood Awards Luncheon hosted by the Rancho Los Alamitos Foundation. We are incredibly proud to have been one of the presenting sponsors for this charitable event. The Cottonwood Awards celebrate Long Beach leaders who have shown great efforts in promoting and supporting the cultural communities of the Southern California region. The luncheon was filled with many inspiring guest speakers as well as some great food and even better company! The funds raised at the luncheon support the overall mission of the Rancho Los Alamitos Foundation which is to educate and engage visitors by sharing their rich history, compelling stories, and their authentic connections to California’s past. We are proud of our long-standing partnership with the RLA Foundation and are looking forward to continuing it in years to come.

Signal Hill Petroleum, Inc., (SHPI) worked with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC News) on their upcoming feature on Urban Oil Operations in Los Angeles County.

SHP showed the BBC our operations for the interview hosted by journalist Sophie Long. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of SHP, Dave Slater, answered Long’s questions regarding why it is important to continue to produce oil in California rather than overseas. Slater discussed that with California’s strict regulations, oil and gas production is done safely and efficiently with zero emissions.

Tune in later this month to hear more about the future of oil!

Last Wednesday, we had the privilege to attend the Long Beach Salvation Army’s Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for their Donald and Priscilla Hunt Community Center. This event was very special and rewarding for us because we have been proud donors to the Salvation Army for many years. We were able to attend the Groundbreaking Ceremony back in January of 2020, and it was so great to see their visions come to life. The Community Center includes a gymnasium, field, playground, and so much more. We also were so touched to see the Community Center plaza named after us with a plaque gratefully acknowledging our contribution. The Salvation Army is a nonprofit organization that’s mission is to meet human needs without discrimination. Each year they help 23 million Americans and continuously provide for the less fortunate. We would like to thank the Long Beach Salvation Army for continuously giving back to our local community.

The Signal Tribune recently published an article discussing the City of Signal Hill City Councils’ decision to extend Signal Hill Petroleum’s oil-drilling conditional use permit for two more years. SHP has been a crucial part of building Signal Hill, being one of the largest landowners. Extending SHP’s CUP allows for SHP to not only prosper in oil production but also in the development aspect of their company. SHP’s Chief of Operations and Executive Vice President, Dave Slater, informs Signal Hill that SHP’s drilling sites use the “best environmental technologies in the world,” as well as that SHP is always “looking to find greener options for our community.”

Last Tuesday we attended the Signal Hill Police Foundations’ 2021 “National Night Out!” This year’s NNO was held during Signal Hills “Concerts in the Park.” The night was filled with awesome giveaways, raffles, food, and an amazing performance by the popular band, “Knyght Ryder!” It was so great having the Signal Hill Police Officers come stop by the concert and spend time with the community. We are incredibly proud to have our Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Dave Slater, and our Community Relations Manager, Alex Rothwell, on the board of the Police Foundation. The Signal Hill Police Foundations’ mission is to raise money in order to host events that build a stronger relationship between the police department and the community. We had such a great time seeing everyone who came out and we are looking forward to many more events to come!
