Signal Hill Petroleum is proud to announce that our very own Communications Specialist, Stefanie Gillett, has been elected Vice President to the Signal Hill Community Foundation Board.
The Signal Hill Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports the community of Signal Hill by organizing funding for beneficial community projects and events like community yard sales, concerts in the park, and the Unity Monument in honor of September 11th at Discovery Well Park. Signal Hill Petroleum, as an active and founding member of the foundation, hopes to further the foundation’s goal of community unity and prosperity with the election of Gillett.
Gillett expressed that it is a privilege to be involved with an organization that can make a difference for the community. Her ambition is to see the foundation expand and provide further funding for engaging and enjoyable activities that will continue to benefit the community. Gillett, as part of SHP’s Community Relations Team, has been very involved with projects in the community and hopes to continue to see the City of Signal Hill prosper. With Gillett’s vision and enthusiasm and the support of Signal Hill Petroleum, we look forward to the exciting and constructive work of the foundation and the continued leadership and philanthropic roles of SHP members in the community.

Stefanie Gillett, Communications Specialist for Signal Hill Petroleum, joined her fellow Signal Hill Community Foundation board members Saturday, May 2nd at the annual Signal Hill Community Yard Sale. The event is sponsored by the Signal Hill Community Foundation and is in partnership with the Signal Hill Community Service Department. The community yard sale happens once a year on the first weekend in May and has been doing so since 2009. The event is an opportunity for community members, who normally wouldn’t have the ability to host a yard sale, to clean out their storage areas and make a little money.
The yard sale has always been a popular event and continuously sells out of spaces every year. The yard sale hosted 40 vendors; the majority being residents of Signal Hill, some residents of neighboring cities, a few commercial groups, and a couple non-profits. Although the number is not exact, it was estimated that the yard sale had over several hundred attendees. The proceeds of the yard sale go directly to the Signal Hill Community Foundation, which in return donates to community events for the City of Signal Hill.
