Last Saturday SHP employees were busy dodging balls for charity as they participated in an industry dodgeball tournament hosted by The Young Professionals at the Petroleum Club (TYP). Friends and family of SHP teammates came to cheer them on against there competitors which included Termo, Petroleum Solids Control, Summit ESP, and Norwest Engineering. All proceeds of the tournament were donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Carson, where the event was held. The competition was fierce, we played hard, and although we didn’t win the title we’re still proud to have been a part of a charitable cause and had a great time doing it.

Alex Rothwell, SHP community relations specialist, is also the government affairs representative for TYP, and was the M.C. for the dodgeball tournament.
The Long Beach Business Journal published their annual focus on the oil and gas industry issue. David Slater, Executive VP and COO for SHP was interviewed about the current status and hopes for the future for the oil and gas industry. In addition to how the industry is stabilizing and preparing for the future, Slater specifically focused on SHP’s operations and mindset:
“We consider our primary mission to be stewards of our community and stewards of the environment. The safety of our personnel and the safety of the public is paramount to our company,” Slater explained. “We’re very proud of our track record but that doesn’t mean that we can’t improve. That’s the attitude of our company: get better every day.”
