SHP Employee Honored as 30 Under 30

October 15, 2013

By Debra:

This past Wednesday, Assemblywoman Bonnie Lowenthal held a reception for the 2013 30 women under the
age of 30 who “use their talents to make California a better place to live,” as part of “Make a Difference Day.”  Signal Hill Petroleum’s employee, Amanda Barto Kilpatrick, was one of women honored.

I attended this event in support of Amanda along with her husband Dustin Kilpatrick and Terry Rogers, President of the Signal Hill Chamber of Commerce.  Terry Rogers nominated Amanda because of her commitment to serving our local community.  Amanda has participated in or lead projects for non profit programs such as Operation School Bell, Food for Kids, National Night Out, Summer Concert Series, Movies in the Park, Mayor’s Clean Up, and many more.  Amanda also serves as a board member for the Signal Hill Chamber of Commerce.  I was so proud to see Amanda as part of this incredible group of women and I was so proud to hear her work being recognized.

“In each of these young women we see what makes California great,” said Lowenthal, chair of the Legislative Women’s Caucus. “They’re our future leaders and innovators that will blaze new trails and build stronger communities for us all.”

I get the opportunity to attend many citywide events but I left this event feeling inspired by these young women and proud of our community for supporting and recognizing their work.

Congratulations Amanda!
