Society of Petroleum Engineers Award

Each year, the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) awards outstanding chapters for excellence within their local organization. Founded in 1913, SPE is an international professional organization, with groups all over the world.

As the Chair of our local  Young Professionals group for the Los Angeles Basin SPE chapter, I was honored to receive the award for Outstanding Young Professionals group this fall. Our Vice President, Ben Nathan, a reservoir engineer with Warren E&P, joined me in attending the awards ceremony at the SPE Annual Technical Conference in New Orleans.  This past year, we boosted attendance of young professionals at SPE events throughout the year, bringing together oil industry professionals from Los Angeles to Imperial Valley. We also opened events to local students so that they can learn more about the industry while preparing to join it. In the coming year we hope to continue bringing together industry professionals and expanding our membership throughout the LA area.
