At SHP, we believe that our employees are our most important asset and that we must constantly strive to develop the best skilled, best motivated and best performing team in the industry.  Paul Gonzales, an Engineering Tech with SHP, is someone who embodies these values and continues to work hard and learn more every day.

Paul has been a part of the SHP family for over 9 years. Prior to working here, he served our country in the US Army and served one tour in Iraq. Once he left the military, Paul started his career in the oil and gas industry with SHP working as a derrick man. Paul shared that, “There was a lot of good things that came from working on the drilling rig that helped me acclimate from the military to civilian life, because of the hard work and the family unit that you have with the drilling team”.

As Paul continued to expand his experience working on the rig, an opportunity arose for him to work on a short-term project with our engineering department. He took this opportunity and in credit to his work ethic and drive, landed himself a full-time position as an Engineering Tech. Paul has never stopped striving to work hard and has since earned his associate’s degree in math and science and is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

Paul shared that, “I love SHP because they gave me an opportunity as a veteran that a lot of others don’t have. They gave me a job but also gave me the opportunity to continue going to school which I have always wanted to do. I am the first person in my family to have a college education and I want that to motivate my niece and nephew as something to strive for”.

SHP is proud to have employees like Paul who are dedicated to their career and never stop aspiring to learn more and work hard.
